Thank you for checking out the third in our series of informational articles designed to help you better understand the PMI-Maine Chapter Board positions that either are currently open, or will be opening up come the end of the year. This time we’re focusing on the Treasurer. (Right now the chapter is functioning with an acting treasurer, whose term will conclude at the end of 2022.)

PMI Maine Chapter Role: Treasurer

Overview: The Treasurer is elected to be responsible for the Chapter’s finances and financial processes for the duration of their term. The Treasurer is responsible for maintaining and presenting all financial records required for Chapter operations according to Chapter procedures, processes, and by-laws. The Treasurer is one of the four Board positions that are required to be filled by our Chapter by-laws. (The President, President-Elect, and Secretary are the others.)

Primary Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):

  • Prepare and provide monthly financial reporting for Chapter finances and financial activity
  • Report on the state of Chapter finances at board meetings and chapter meetings
  • Establish and maintain all Chapter bank and financial accounts and track all financial transactions
  • Manage and track Chapter accounts receivable and payable
  • Prepare and file Chapter tax filings
  • Establish, maintain, and ensure compliance with Chapter financial operational policies and processes
  • Contribute to financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting for the Chapter, including maintaining the annual budget

Estimated Average Monthly Volunteer Hours: 4 - 8 hours (again, this is an estimated monthly average; actual time is dependent on time of year, Chapter initiatives, and participation in committees and additional Chapter work).
