With over 30 years of experience in the banking industry, Melinda Barnes has participated in bringing positive change to Maine’s communities. Starting at Merrill Trust Company at an entry level, she advanced through various teams and into a leadership role with the merger of Fleet Bank of Maine, later becoming the Cash Management Representative for Eastern and Northern Maine.
Melinda transitioned to Bangor Savings Bank’s Operation Team where she is a seasoned, facilitating the development and implementation of new electronic and cash management services. In 2001, Melinda transitioned into a Business Analyst/IT Business Development Manager role. She also served on the Bank’s core banking system - Jack Henry & Associates, National Silverlake User Group Board.
Melinda is no stranger to Project Management. In 2005, she transitioned to a marketing role, assisting with design, research and new product development. Melinda moved into a full project manager role – helping Bangor Savings Bank develop and implement a project methodology that supported strategic initiatives. She obtained her PMP certification in April of 2015, is a member of PMI and currently manages large, complex projects, focusing on team members, the details and deadlines. She has also created a network of project managers in the Bangor area to share knowledge and experiences.
Melinda is also heavily involved in making a positive difference in the lives of Maine’s military service members, Veterans and their families. She co-chairs the Military Appreciation Group – helping to facilitate events that support and create awareness and appreciation for their service and sacrifices. You will also find her packing humanitarian aid and feeding those in need.
She is serving as Director of Education for PMI Maine, providing a fall professional development day and helping us provide educational services throughout Maine.
Melinda and her husband are avid motorcycle riders – vacationing annually in the western part of the United States on their motorcycle. When home, it is all about family.
